Assistance Available to
Anthem Members Impacted by Colorado Wildfires

June 27, 2012

To help those who have been affected by the devastating wildfires in Colorado, Anthem is offering additional assistance for all Anthem members who are or were under a mandatory evacuation order. We are taking measures to ensure that our members will have access to the medications they need as well as telephonic crisis counseling during this difficult time.

Early prescription refill eligibility for members in fire zone

In order to ensure our members have access to the prescriptions they may need throughout this challenging time, we have put in place an override process so Colorado fire victims can get early prescription refills.

This override process applies to members notified to evacuate or to members who have been evacuated as a result of any Colorado wild fire this season and will be in place until July 15, 2012. Our members in the disaster area will be able to go to any network pharmacy to obtain their prescriptions, even if they are not yet due for refill. If a member attempts to refill a prescription and the pharmacy is unaware of the override process, they can call ExpressScripts at 800-824-0898 or members can call Anthem's customer service number located on the back of their ID card if they require additional assistance.

EAP Assistance

Anthem has activated the EAP Disaster Response program which will be available to Colorado health plan members. Members will have access to:

  • 24-7 telephonic crisis counseling by calling 1-877-208-8240
  • Website resources available at www.anthemeap.com with a log in of "wildfires" at the member page. There are resources available under the "Disaster Resources" tab.
  • Please note this does not include face to face counseling sessions or assisted work/life resources which are available to accounts unless accounts have purchased our EAP product.
