How Q-HIP defines quality of care
Q-HIP measures and scores fall into three categories: Patient Safety, Patient Health Outcomes, and Patient Satisfaction. A few examples of what we consider:
Patient Safety:
Do doctors use computerized order entry systems?
Do Intensive Care Units have appropriate staffing?
Patient Health Outcomes:
How are pneumococcal vaccines used after pneumonia episodes?
What are the serious complication rates for select procedures?
Patient Satisfaction:
How do patients rate their experience during a given hospital stay?
