We have products designed to help employees find solutions to the rising cost of prescription drugs. Escalating prescription costs affect overall health care costs and the bottom line. Our pharmacy program will help you and your employees better manage those costs.

Generics Offer Savings and Choices
Members may save money by requesting generic equivalent medications. Generics contain active ingredients that are therapeutically equivalent to brand-name medications and are required by the Food and Drug Administration to perform in the same manner.

Anthem’s tiered prescription plans encourage the use of effective, less expensive generic prescriptions.

Generic drugs can cost anywhere from 25 percent to 80 percent less than their brand-name counterparts.

There are currently more than 500 generic drugs available on the Anthem formulary. Generic drugs are added to the formulary as soon as they become widely available.

In an effort to help save members money, Anthem automatically converts them to the generic unless the brand-name drug is required by law, or members or their doctors instruct otherwise.

Broad Access and Expertise
Anthem offers access to nearly 63,000 participating network pharmacies – almost 99 percent of all pharmacies in the region – making it easier to find convenient locations to fill prescriptions. When a doctor prescribes a drug from the prescription drug list, employees enjoy potential cost savings. This list includes close to 1,000 medications.
Members may search for a participating pharmacy online by visiting anthem.com, entering the Wisconsin site and clicking on Find a Doctor on the Wisconsin Home Page. This resource is updated weekly to provide members with the most up-to-date information.
