BACK-TO-BACK NBA CHAMPION LAKERS TEAM UP WITH
ANTHEM BLUE CROSS TO ENCOURAGE ALL FANS TO BE “FIT FOR LIFE”
El Segundo - The Back-to-Back NBA Champion Los Angeles Lakers have announced that Anthem Blue Cross will return as presenting sponsor of its health and wellness initiative “Fit for Life with the Los Angeles Lakers” for the 2010-11 season. Building off of last season’s success, the sponsorship will continue to focus on educating the community on the importance of physical fitness and healthy nutrition in an effort to fight childhood obesity and encourage all Lakers fans to be fit for life.
This season, LA County teachers and principals will encourage students to take interactive health-related quizzes on Lakers.com for the opportunity to attend the second annual "Fit for Life Health Fair." The schools will have the chance to earn an invitation to the health fair by participating in the Lakers Fit for Life Trivia Challenge, which will challenge students to answer questions about healthy eating habits and various ways for children to be fit for life.
Additionally, the Lakers will hold its third annual “Fit for Life Time Out” contest which asks LA County elementary and middle school teachers and principals to answer essay questions about their school’s unique health and exercise programs. Members of the Lakers organization will award a special “Fit for Life Time Out” visit to the school that has best implemented programs that educate its students about the importance of physical fitness, developing healthy nutritional habits and leading active lifestyles. Last season, a resounding 41 LA County schools took part in this promising program.

Harris continued, “Through our Lakers Fit for Life initiative with our partner, Anthem Blue Cross, we hope to continue to make meaningful strides towards tackling childhood obesity and encouraging all fans to make a commitment to lead happy, healthy and active lifestyles.”
