The 29th Annual Children’s Holiday Movie event invites 1,200 children to a feature film, gifts and more
On Saturday, December 3, Venice Family Clinic’s 29th Annual Children’s Holiday Movie, thanks to a $25, 000 sponsorship from Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal Health Plan, welcomed 1,200 low-income and homeless children and their families to a private screening of DreamWorks Animation’s hilarious family film, “Trolls.” Guests also received holiday gifts, took pictures with Santa, met special celebrity guests, and participated in festive crafts. The event served as an annual fundraiser for the Clinic’s pediatric services, which offer care to more than 7,000 low-income infants, kids and teens each year.
“Children’s Holiday Movie provides a much-needed moment of celebration and community-building, while raising vital funds for our pediatric health care programs. Now more than ever, Venice Family Clinic relies on generous supporters, like Anthem Blue Cross. Without their compassionate gifts we would not be able to reach the thousands who rely on us for quality care each year,” said Elizabeth Benson Forer, Venice Family Clinic’s Executive Director & CEO.
This unique event, generously hosted by Cinemark and The Promenade at Howard Hughes, not only brought a holiday celebration to Westside families in need, but raised more than $160,000 in essential funds to help Venice Family Clinic provide quality pediatric health care to thousands of infants, kids and teens. Those who want to show their support can still donate online at www.vfcshop.com/chm. Every $500 donation gives one child the gift of comprehensive health care for one entire year.
Anthem Blue Cross returned as presenting sponsor for their third year, presenting Venice Family Clinic with a $25,000 check during the celebration to showcase their continued support.
“Anthem Blue Cross is proud to support Venice Family Clinic to ensure that all children have access to healthcare in their community and continue to live healthy lives,” said Steve Melody, president of Anthem Blue Cross Medi-Cal Health Plan.
Celebrity guests included Erica Rivinoja, writer for “Trolls”; Chloe Noelle (True Blood, New Girl), Jax Malcolm (My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, The League), Hunter Payton (A to Z, Criminal Minds), Miss California Latina Melissa Santos, and Justin Tinucci (Trophy Wife, Big Love, iCarly).
