Who Can Receive a COVID-19 Vaccination and When?

January 25, 2021

The development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccinations represent an essential step toward recovery from this pandemic. While many people have hope for what's to come, you may also be looking for details on the vaccines and when they will be widely available.

Two COVID-19 vaccines are currently available
Healthcare professionals administer the vaccine as two separate injections into the arm. The initial supply of COVID-19 vaccine doses in the United States is limited. As a result, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), developed recommendations for a phased vaccination rollout.

Your state has a vaccination plan
Each state is responsible for developing a vaccine distribution plan. Please review your state's vaccination plan for specific details.

Anthem members will receive the vaccination at no cost
It doesn’t matter where you live, which health plan you have, or which healthcare professional you choose to visit for the vaccination. All Anthem members will receive the vaccination at no cost.

We will continue to update you as new information about COVID-19 and vaccine availability becomes available. Visit the CDC's website to learn more about the safety and background of COVID-19 vaccinations.
