Update: Incorrect Claims Denials in Kentucky Being Reprocessed

What happened?

At Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, we are dedicated to providing our members with access to quality, affordable healthcare, which includes accurate claims payments for the care our members receive from doctors and hospitals.

Unfortunately, an administrative error made by Anthem related to premium payments caused some members in Kentucky to have trouble accessing their health plan coverage and others to receive information incorrectly stating their claim had been denied due to their employers’ premium payment status.

We apologize for any inconvenience and concern this error caused.

What we’re doing about it

All claims incorrectly denied for nonpayment of premium have been removed from denied status and most have been reprocessed. We anticipate having all claims reprocessed and the revised explanation of benefits, by the end of March.

Members who received an incorrect denial can check the status of their claims at any time through the Sydney Health app,, or by calling our Member Service number on their Anthem ID card.
