Lowering Healthcare Cost Trends in the Front Range

What You Need to Know About Our Contract Renewal Discussions with HCA HealthONE in Colorado

HCA HealthONE may leave our network on November 30, 2026.

Our agreement with HCA HealthONE (HCA) to serve our members expires on November 30, 2026. We’re working hard to keep HCA in-network beyond that date. HCA is requesting price increases that are much higher than wage growth. If we accepted their proposed price increases, healthcare costs would increase by $70 million over the next two years.

We’re committed to lowering healthcare cost trends, and we’ve offered payment increases similar to other large Front Range health systems. But we can’t agree to HCA’s large price increases for our members and their employers.

If HCA leaves our network, we’re here to help you.

Our Members Are Our First Priority

We're Protecting Your Access to Care

  • We remain committed to working directly with HCA to reach an agreement.
  • HCA will remain in-network for Anthem’s commercial and Medicare Advantage members until at least November 30, 2026.
  • We recommend our members schedule or reschedule non-emergency care at one of our many in-network care providers located in the Front Range. Please see below for a partial list of alternative providers.
  • If you’re currently in treatment at HCA for a serious condition, you may be able to continue your care at HCA for a limited time if you are receiving certain types of care.
  • Your plan will cover emergency care according to your policy benefits and applicable cost shares.
  • Note: Starting December 1, 2026, Anthem Pathway Essentials members in Colorado will have in-network access to UCHealth, Children’s Hospital Colorado, and CU Medicine for primary, specialty, and pediatric care. Please click here for more information.

What’s Happening?

Health systems and health plans routinely negotiate contracts that determine the prices you pay for healthcare services. These discussions are a normal part of maintaining provider networks and take place throughout the healthcare industry. In most cases, these negotiations are collaborative and result in a fair agreement for the health system, patients and employers who pay for care.

In some cases, we reach an agreement just before the current contract ends. In rare cases, we do not reach an agreement, resulting in a provider leaving the network.

Throughout our network agreement discussions with all health systems, our responsibility is to maintain access to high-quality care while lowering healthcare costs for the members, families, employers, and communities we serve.

If HCA leaves Anthem’s network, where can I go for in-network care?

For most plans, our provider network includes nearly all health systems and hospitals on the Front Range including:

  • UCHealth
  • CU Medicine
  • Advent Health
  • CommonSpirit
  • Intermountain Health
  • Denver Health

Care provider networks can vary by health plan. Always log in to anthem.com or the Sydney Health app to find care providers in your network.
