Help for members impacted by the recent Hawk Fires in Nevada
On 08/23/2026, Governor Joe Lombardo declared a State of Emergency in Washoe County due to the Hawk Fires.
Anthem is taking steps to help our impacted members. We are relaxing guidelines temporarily in Washoe County and the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony through the end of the State of Emergency
Here’s what you should know:
- You can replace medical equipment (also called Durable Medical Equipment or DME) if yours was lost or damaged.
- You can request emergency refills of prescriptions if your medication was left behind, lost or damaged.
- You can replace eyeglasses if yours were lost or damaged.
- Time limits for medical necessity reviews will be relaxed for members affected — there will be no late penalties.
- You and your doctors are being given more time to file claims, if needed.
How to still get care:
- You can receive emergency or urgent care services from any doctor or hospital if in-network providers are not available due to the state of emergency, or if you’re out of the area due to displacement.
- 24/7 NurseLine can give you no-cost medical information and advice 24 hours day, every day of the year. Call 844-396-2329 (TTY 711) and request the NurseLine.
- If you need to go to a different pharmacy, replacement medical equipment, and/or replacement glasses because of a state of emergency, call the Customer Care Center Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Pacific time toll-free at 844-396-2329 (TTY 711), and we’ll help you.
