Housing Supports and Services FAQ

Medicaid Housing Supports and Services are for members with certain health conditions. Not all members will qualify for Medicaid Housing Supports and Services.

You may be eligible for Housing Supports and Services if you are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of experiencing homelessness and you are experiencing one or more of the following conditions or circumstances.

Serious mental illness diagnosis
Serious emotional disorder (SED) diagnosis
Substance use disorder (SUD) diagnosis
At risk of institutionalization or overdose, or in need of residential services because of a SUD or SED or other behavioral health condition
At risk of experiencing a behavioral health crisis or utilizing the emergency department
Pregnant or had a recent live birth within the last sixty (60) days
Discharged from a correctional or medical facility within the last ninety (90) days
Transitioning, or will be transitioning within the next thirty (30) days, from an institutional or inpatient setting to the home or community setting
Victim of human trafficking or domestic violence.

To determine if you are eligible, a screening will need to be performed by a contracted Housing Supports and Services Provider.

Medicaid Housing Supports and Services include:

Specialized case management

Screening and intake
Development of individualized housing support plan

Housing transition services

Services to support finding and securing housing

Housing deposits

Provides security deposit and other funding to help you get a home

Housing sustainment services

Case management and tenancy supports that help you stay in your home once stable housing is secured

NOTE: Housing Supports and Services do not include payment for room and board or rental assistance.

Location of services

The following services are available in Clark and Washoe Counties of Nevada:

Specialized case management services — support to create a housing support plan.

Housing transition services — help to find and secure housing.

Housing deposits — funding to help you get a home.

Housing sustainment services — assistance to help you stay in your new home once housing is secured.

Services must be provided by an in-network provider

It’s important to know what is — and is not — part of these services. Please keep the criteria below in mind when it comes to housing support.

Housing support and services are an optional benefit only for those who qualify.
Availability may vary across Nevada Medicaid Managed Care Organizations (MCO).
It’s your responsibility to seek information on whether you’ll still have these services if you change your MCO.

Support does not cover payments for room and board or rental assistance.
