New multi-year agreement continues Anthem members’ access to high-quality, affordable care
WALLINGFORD, CONN. – Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut (Anthem) and Yale New Haven Health (YNHHS) have signed a new multi-year agreement that strengthens their long-standing partnership and advances high-quality, affordable healthcare for people in Connecticut. The agreement also continues in-network access to YNHHS hospitals, facilities, and healthcare professionals for Anthem members in all health plans.
Anthem and YNHHS will work together on several initiatives to improve health outcomes for members and patients by:
- Reducing hospital readmissions through data-driven care coordination, evidence-based treatment pathways, and enhanced patient follow-up.
- Optimizing the care setting for surgical procedures and infusion therapies, ensuring patients receive safe, effective, and appropriate treatment.
- Promoting urgent care as an alternative to emergency departments for minor or non-emergent medical conditions, improving patient convenience while helping reduce avoidable emergency room visits.
“This agreement reflects our shared commitment to advancing affordability, access, and better health for the people we serve across Connecticut,” said Lou Gianquinto, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Connecticut. “By working together on innovative initiatives that strengthen health outcomes, lower costs, and enhance the patient experience, we’re ensuring our members continue to have access to the care they need, when and where they need it.”
“This agreement guarantees Anthem patients ongoing, uninterrupted access to quality care in our health system, while we continue expanding services and investing in technology to enhance patient experience,” said Christopher O’Connor, CEO of Yale New Haven Health. “We are delighted that Anthem is committed to working closely with us to ensure that our patients receive access to high value care in clinically advanced settings with enhanced follow-up for our most vulnerable patients.”
Anthem members with questions about their coverage or provider options can call the Member Services number on the back of their ID card.
