Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Expands Access to Specialty Mental Healthcare Treatment with Addition of InStride Health to Network

December 12, 2023

InStride Health offers innovative, outpatient treatment option for pediatric anxiety and OCD

MANCHESTER, N.H. — As part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire’s (Anthem) ongoing effort to increase access to mental healthcare and expand treatment capacity in the state, Anthem recently welcomed InStride Health, a pediatric anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) treatment provider, to its extensive provider network.

InStride Health treats all severity levels for anxiety and OCD for children and young adults ages 7 to 22, with a focus on those with moderate to severe conditions where anxiety and/or OCD are interfering with functioning and causing additional problems (e.g., social isolation, school avoidance, physical symptoms, or depression). InStride Health offers evidence-based treatment through individual and family therapy, patient groups, medication management (if needed), and coaching and care coordination delivered by a highly experienced care team of psychiatrists, therapists, and exposure coaches. Care is delivered virtually.

“InStride Health’s results-driven approach to treating pediatric anxiety and OCD offers a much-needed treatment option for our members, and its virtual model offers convenience and flexibility for families,” said Maria Proulx, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in New Hampshire. “This is another example of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s continued commitment to expanding access to a variety of mental health treatment options by bringing innovative providers like InStride Health into our expansive network.”

InStride Health’s care model is based on their clinical co-founders’ decades of working with kids and families in the Mass General Hospital/McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School System. “We’ve seen how powerful specialized treatment for pediatric anxiety and OCD can be, and we want to ensure that every child and family has access to that treatment that truly improves lives,” said Mona Potter, co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at InStride Health.

Ninety percent of InStride Health program graduates with initial elevated anxiety symptoms at baseline experienced a reduction in anxiety following two months of treatment, with an average symptom reduction of 46 percent. Additionally, after three months of enrollment, 82 percent of patients reported reduced functional impairment and symptom severity.
