Preventive Care Plans & Guidelines

Screenings

First 12 weeks

  • Depression
  • Diabetes
  • Hematocrit/hemoglobin (Blood count)
  • HIV (Screening recommended in all pregnant persons whose HIV status is unknown)
  • Hepatitis B
  • Rubella immunity
  • RH(D) blood type and antibody testing
  • Syphilis
  • Urinalysis

26 weeks

  • RH(D) blood type and antibody testing (If necessary)

28 weeks

  • RH(D) blood type and antibody testing (If necessary)

Confirm with doctor

  • Amniocentesis
  • Cell-free DNA (Blood test to check for chromosomal abnormalities in the baby)
  • Chorionic villus sampling
  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) screening and counseling: HIV [Screening recommended in all pregnant persons whose HIV status is unknown, including those who present in labor or at delivery. Persons who are at high risk of HIV acquisition should be offered pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP)]
  • Preeclampsia (Blood pressure)
  • Special blood tests
  • Ultrasound tests
