David Jones, MD, Named Director of Medical Operations of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Georgia

Anthem announced today that David Jones, MD, FAAP, LSSBB, has been named Director of Medical Operations for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Georgia, effective May 2.
 

“Dr. Jones’ knowledge and medical expertise, diverse leadership skills and his successful track record of collaborating with providers will add tremendous value to our mission of improving the lives and communities we serve,” said Robert Bunch, President, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Georgia. “I have no doubt that he will help us execute our vision to provide access to quality and affordable healthcare to all of our members in Georgia.
 

Dr. Jones brings a wealth of experience to Anthem, most recently serving as senior program director for strategic initiatives at Kaiser Permanente of Georgia. He previously served as Kaiser Permanente’s Chief of Pediatrics. 
 

Dr. Jones has more than 20 years of physician leadership in healthcare and experience in driving transformational organizational change to realize breakthrough results in strategic, operational, and financial improvements across a multi-specialty healthcare delivery system. As a physician with Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification and business administrative experience, he is uniquely qualified to develop and execute critical business strategies.

As medical director at Anthem, Dr. Jones will serve as lead clinician for the Georgia plan, including being responsible for the administration of medical services and ensuring the appropriate and most cost-effective medical care is provided. He will also drive Anthem’s cost of care strategies and other core initiatives to support the mission or providing quality, affordable healthcare for all members.  
 

Dr. Jones earned a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Duke University, and a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia.
